Family update

My younger son Derrick graduated from high school May 21. His grad party was Memorial Day weekend, and he left for college August 15. His summer job was umpiring baseball games. He went on several trips and had a great summer.

My older son Kraig is still in high school. He started class this week. He has autism and is a “super senior.” He’s working on job skills, independence, and his transition to adult services. This summer, he tried a summer work program, went to summer school, and enjoyed summer activities (esp ice cream shops!).

We did local stuff for vacation. We started with a trip to Frankenmuth (Michigan) ~ 2.5 hours away. Then, we went to The Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village in Dearborn ~ 1 hour away. We also rode roller coasters at Cedar Point ~90 min away and visited our local pool.

My husband Nathan has been back at First Solar for 6 months now. He’s working on the operations side of the business now. During his first 12+ years, he was on the manufacturing side of the business. Working in solar energy is a challenge my husband enjoys.

I don’t work much each summer so I can be present for my family.

Update on my podcast

Thank you for listening to and sharing this podcast! The Pharmacist’s Voice Podcast is more than 3.5 years old, and my download numbers climb every year. I plan to keep the format of publishing solo shows and interview shows. Starting in January 2024, I plan to interview more pharmacist podcasters.

I started a second podcast called The Perrysburg Podcast, which you can find at perrysburgpodcast.com. It’s an informational podcast for prospective, new, and current Perrysburg, OH residents.

I will teach a live podcast planning class on Sept 14, 2023 at the 577 Foundation in Perrysburg, OH. My students will contribute toward an episode of The Perrysburg Podcast.

Update on my business

I want to work with Debbie Irwin, medical narration coach, this fall. I want to find out if this is a good time to ramp up my medical narration auditions or if I should focus on other opportunities. I plan to update the offerings for my podcast planning course this fall so that there are 3 tiers.

As far as business goals, I want to start a monthly newsletter this year; I need renew my pharmacist license before Sept 15; and I need to update my client intake process.

I attended the Medipreneurs Summit in Kansas City, MO in June. I had a great time, and I learned strategies to improve my business. If you want to become a healthcare entrepreneur, and you need a supportive community, Medipreneurs is a great place to start.

Apart from The Pharmacist’s Voice as a business, I also started billing as an independent provider for the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities this summer. I provide direct care for individuals with developmental disabilities.
